The
Bellamy Brothers
have
been tapped to receive the “W” Award by the Republican
Party of Florida on January 18th in
Washington DC. The award recognizes the Bellamys for
their efforts on behalf of President Bush. Florida
Senator Mel Martinez, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Country
Music singer Mark Chesnutt, among other notables, will
be receiving the “W” Award.
The
country music duo has also been invited by the
Presidential Inaugural Committee to the Liberty Ball
which is hosted by the State of Florida on January 20th
in Washington DC. Longtime residents of Florida, the
Bellamys will emcee the event as well as sing the
National Anthem. The invitation to the Liberty Ball was
extended to the duo in appreciation for the numerous
rallies they’ve performed at in support of President
Bush’s re-election campaign. The Bellamys also supported
the President during the campaign of 2000.
Explains Howard Bellamy, “We’re very honored to perform
at this event celebrating President Bush’s second term.
Plus, since it’s a Floridian event, it will be fun to
perform for a hometown crowd in DC!”
2005
marks the 30th anniversary of The Bellamy
Brothers soaring to the top of the pop charts with their
mega-hit “Let Your Love Flow.” By the late seventies,
they hit the top of the country charts with “If I Said
You had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against
Me)”. A string of gold and platinum records followed as
they racked up fourteen number one hits. Just back from
performing for the US troops based in Korea David and
Howard Bellamy have been juggling time between touring
and recording their much anticipated duet project – with
the working title Angels & Outlaws.
Thirty plus guest artists from many genres of music
have recorded their vocals on over twenty of the
Bellamys greatest hits and three new selections for a
two disc series.
Angels
and Outlaws Volume 1
is scheduled to be released in March 2005 on Curb
Records with more details to follow soon.
